I have a used frame coming in the next week or so. So today i took the nerfs off, and the A-arms so the can be painted and ready to go when the frame gets here. I have been labeling all my nuts and bolts in zip-loc bags. I was really confident going into this but there is so many parts... im gonna need some guidance through the process.
Like i took the a arms off but left the hubs, rotor, etc. all together but i want to paint the arms but not sure how to disconnect them. Any pointers? P.S. Its telling me invalid picutes to upload, something like that. Im not sure what im doing wrong!!!!

Hey Jkolb,
First thing, relax it was built by man, it can be rebuilt by you. You are doing it right by labeling the items in bags. Take pictures if you are in doubt. One thing I've found to be a huge help is the parts diagrams, like the ones you see on bikebandit.com or cheapcycleparts.com. The exploded view really helps. See if you can find the parts manual for the Z, that is all of the diagrams. I'd advise you scrap the paint idea and change to powder coating. PC will last 10 times longer than paint. Paint is just going to wear off and then you'll be in this same boat in no time at all. Any questions, post them. Good luck.

It's definitely easier to get the hubs and spindles off when the a arms are still on. If you have a ball joint removal tool you can do it easily though. (harbor freight has a cheap one that works good on the z)
Otherwise, just do what you're doing. Label nuts and bolts, hoses, cables, etc. Take pictures of wire, hose and cable routing. It will get a little confusing when you go to put it all back together.

How do i get the throttle cable out of the side of the carb? or should i not take it out and just disconnect the whole throttle thumb button from the handle bars?

I'd personally just disconnect at the bars and leave it connected at the carb

I would have done that but figured it out at the carb and was not really hard at all just figuring out how it worked.
