This is a yfz cable modification to the Z400 thumb throttle.

1. http://img163.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttle19qw.jpg

2. http://img81.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttle29df.jpg

3. http://img173.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttle33az.jpg

4. http://img225.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttle48fj.jpg

5. http://img73.echo.cx/my.php?image=throttle55gz.jpg

Number 1. is a picture of when it was all done, I switched rubber pieces from the Z cable to the yfz cable. If you put some lube on it it will come off alot easier and wont mess up your z throttle by tugging on it.

Number 2. is a picture of the adjustment with the z rubber piece moved out of the way.

Number 3. is top view of the JB weld setup inside the hole. I used a little masking tape on the sides to let the JB weld set up and dry.

Number 4. is an inside view of the threads and hole. I used a 11/32" drill bit to drill the hole out of the JB weld then used a 10mm X 1.25 Tap which was perfect threads.

Number 5. is a picture of the top cover. I shaved down the little lip with a file so it would be flesh against the JB weld.

This is the first time I have posted any kind of pictures so feel free to tell me what Im doing wrong. There might be this info already on here but I thought this would be a good first time for posting pictures.

The yfz thumber you have to kinda reach out with your thumb thus making it sore. Alot of people use a 400ex thumber or a trx thumber because of that reason so instead of buying those you can do this mod. I hated the feel of the yfz throttle and Im sure alot of people agree with me on that. If not LOL I guess I did it for my own sake. But I love the feel of it now.

Also I had the spring mod done in the yfz 39mm fcr by a guy in Arizona his web site is www.dirtfiendracing.com, Thanks Crazie Later on I found how to do that mod but it was too late and had already shipped it to him . It was only $20 and he knew what he was doing (money well spent). These mods are like day and night in my opinion.

P.S Thanks to everyone that had helped me out with this whole setup.

Nice work! I think it's worthy of being a sticky.

The YFZ stock carb fits the Z without any problems?

Yep, little tight but it fits just fine. You might wanna get a (carb to head) Drz-e boot because the stock z boot is a little small but you dont have to do this just makes it an easyier fit. Look at the 40mm fcr step by step pinned in the performance section to get an idea of what you will need to do to install it.

I have a mounting question. What do you do with the YFZ450s throttle position sensor? Do you let it dangle there an d not use it or do you hook it up some place?

all you guys that don't want to do this mod. instead of buying a YFZ, 400ex, or 450r thumb throttle. Get one from a TRX90. its got a 1/2" longer lever and is an easier pull.

One trottle cable that can be used with almost no modification is the LTR wire.
Part number 583000-45g00

The only thing that has to be done is drill the mounting bracket on the carb up by 2 mm. Took 2 minutes to fix, and you can use all the other stock parts. It`s easy to get a hold of too since it`s a original Suki part and it`s cheap.

the honda throttle makes it much easier on your thumb and you dont have to spend the extra money on the spring mod. but the both together makes it like butter.

Which one has an easier pull, the 400ex or the yfz450 thumber? I dont want to do the spring mod... Modded the carb enough already, but the stock one modded is a bit tough.
