Its really appreciated. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hey Chuck, You ever ride at Allegheny PA? Probably a small trip for you. Just wondering. I know the poopster can't. Hell of a trip from Florida! I'm going over Memorial day weekend. I'm planning on getting there the 24th.

Scott, I would love to, but that is quite a jorney from here,(14 hours) and I dont have a lot of money saved up right now. Thanks for the offer though!

Well the guy at Mikuni called me back today and I gave him my address. He is shipping it to me for free! I have a new favorite carb company!!!

He snatched it from the R&D dept. He did say that it was used, but probably better than what I have, which Im not sure. I figure one more would be a good thing reguardless. It gives me another one to experiment with, or it could end up being parts for someone who needs it.

I probably wont get to experiment much till next week, but I will keep you guys up to speed on what happens!

Well guys, I cant really explain why, but I tried the new slide I got from mikuni, and so far, It is nearly flawless. I can just barely get a trace of hang, but its almost not even noticable.

The only thing different about this slide from the other 2 is that it does not have the black coating on the front, and it has half moon shaped grooves cut in it. It also seems heavier, but Im not totally sure on that.

I think the reason it works is that it traps fuel in those grooves and that lubes the slide. The thing Im not sure of is how you guys could duplicate it. It looks about like if it was trued on a surface grinder with a somewhat corse grinding surface that left half moon shaped grooves across the front.

I havent had a chance to spend a days ride with it, but I blasted down the street a few times and it was perfect as far as I could tell.

I have it torn down to go to the weld shop this week, but it will be done by the weekend, and should be runable. I will give another status report then.

I'm currently running a brand new HSR 42mm, I think I have it dialed in good. I don't have a dyno or access to one in this area. I am willing to give up some jetting I have including pilot size, accelerator jet, main jet, and needle. If you are able to give me some good info on how you got yours set up. There is not many people at all running these and the info is slim. I set mine up with no help and alot of trial and error. thanks.

I would be very interested in hearing your info, jetting, mods, any tips or advice. I think this thread is near death anyway since we have discovered a big problem with the HS40. Maybe you guys should make a HSR carb swap info thread and get that pinned. I will be joining in eventually because that will be my next carb. Untill then, I will just bug you with questions about them.

I bought a new HSR 42mm off of someone on ebay gave around 250 with buy it now or best offer can't remember exactly who. The HSR comes with a main of 165, a needle that is a 97, accelerator pump jet of 70, and I believe the pilot was a 20. These were all wrong for my setup. The needle might be able to be used but I have never tried to put it back in so I don't know about that. The main was way rich. The idle was lean, and the accelerator pump was rich. I not going to list every mod I can if need be, but it is the biggest I think of everything. There are some parts I'd like to switch though. I used the intake off of a honda on both sides of the carb. I had to finese both sides to make it work. I can post pics if someone gets real interested, but I like to maybe or possibly change some things if someone has better ideas. I would also like to figure out what is the correct alcohol jets to be running once the gas jets are dialed in. I know there is power in the methanol and the motor will run cooler also.thanks.

I may be wrong, but the rule of thumb is about twice the fuel for methanol. I believe something like 85% more is closer, but I cant remember.

What honda intakes did you use? I havent heard of anything like that. I use the stock Z boots with my HS40. It is a tight fit, but it works. Does the HSR need a bigger boot?

i would like to see your intake setup.

i dont think the carb to motor boot will work off the stock Z.

Someone brief me on how to load pictures and do I need to start a clean reply to post pictures. The carb to motor boot is off of a 450R honda atv, the motorcycles might be the same I don't know. I think the honda 400ex atv bolts to the engine side and it can't be used. This 450R boot works well and I am happy with that side of the carburetor. The air filter side, the side that probably could be better, I used a honda 400ex boot. It is on and to look at it, it looks okay and doesn't leak or anything. I had to take the bolts on each side of the chasis out that hold the air box, so no bolts are holding the air box. However, to get it to fit over the carburetor I had to use a heat gun that is used to shrink heat shrink, electrical splices. It is really a hair dryer that gets hot enough to melt plastic. The HSR42 carburetor on the air filter side is kinda BIG. There is another piece that has to cut off of the honda 400ex intake boot, but it is an easy mod that is noticable. I used some zebra clamps that I got at a local atv dealer, these clamps are adjustable like a normal hose clamp but are narrow like an atv clamp. I will try to get pictures posted soon, possibly Monday. My Hp camara broke and this polaroid digital of my wife's is not near as good.

I will try to get better pictures with another camera, all I can do now.
