Default Valve weights in grams

There was a discussion not long ago about different valves weighing more or less than stock. Well I weighed three different types of valves and here are their weights. Please add more if you like and I'll edit this first post to include them.

Stock intake 43.9 grams
Stock exhaust 28.1 grams

Ferrea intake 41.4 grams
Ferrea exhaust 30.5 grams

APE intake 41.6 grams
APE exhaust 30.4 grams

Del West Ti intake 25.5g
Del West Ti exhaust 16.1g

(From a post added later by wheatz)
Quote:
Stock In- 42.6g, 43g
Stock EX-28g, 27.9g

KW In- 35.7g, 35.8g
KW EX- 27.6g, 27.2g
(From a post added later by chrisroberts916)

Intake 43.6
Exhaust 28.2

Ferrea Ti valves both +1mm 5.5mm stems.
In 31gr
Ex 21gr

I did notice the ape valves were undistinguishable from the ferrea valves. They look identical in every way except they came in a clear sealed unmarked bag.

I moved this to performance parts, and stuck it. I might have some +1 weights to add in the future. It's surprising that the stock valves are that heavy in comparison.

I even cleaned the carbon off the stockers which was worth one gram

I would like to add kibble white to the mix and +1 valves in both ferrea and kibble. Wiseco weights are welcome also, and just for kicks, titanium.

This may be a dumb question but is this just for chits and giggles or does a gram or 2 make that much difference in valves?

It gives us an idea of how hard each will be for the valve springs to control. If the valve spring can't control the valve, it can result in cupping, broken off valve heads, or valve to piston contact.

Something ive been wondering about the aftermarket valves compared to the stock valves. Is the thickness of the valve face? Is it the same as stock or are they thicker hence making a little more compression? considering the valves are not sucked up in the head! been thinking about swaping mine out and wondered if the valve head area is thicker (face) so I wont have to mock up and clat everything again its riding season!!

Harbor freight? Do you think they are true? Maybe an issue with this thread, using different scales within a few grams? I'll see what I can find. I wonder how true something like a quarter is to determine if one scale is calibrated with another? Ya know what I'm getting at, if my scale reads 12g for a (quarter) and yours reads 10g, than the info is worthless and misleading.

I looked at harbor freight a few weeks ago but no luck, maybe a smaller store. I'm still going to try a jewelry store, there scales have to be super accurate. My wife sure gives them enough, I'd think they would do a favor!
