i used the stock intake tube, the 400EX tube was to long

for the H2C boot i found that my 525XC boot was a very good fit, it's the right size on both ends and it puts the carb at the same angle as the stock carb, good clearence for the head stay and the stock carb to air cleaner tube fits nice
if the EX boot is to long cut it off or move the box back a bit

i had the box moved back with the stock H2C boot and the EX boot was to long and i had already cut some off, it seemed that if i had cut back any more i would be increasing the diameter. so then i put the DRZ-e H2C boot on and the stock intake boot but this seemed to make the stock boot almost to short and the angle of the carb was off and i had to modify the head stay. but with the spare H2C boot from my 525XC it clears the head stay with room for the hot start cable if you choose to use one, the angle is good and the stock intake boot fits great with the air box in stock location. all in all IMHO any performance gains that i would gain in useing the EX boot could be more than made up if i lost five pounds.

ive heard good things about the 400ex boot. and i dont think youd see any gain in a loss of 5 lbs lol..but i see your point
