Default another fcr thread

just sent payment for my fcr, cable and thumber and im stokked..i have a few questions that id like to get answered..i have been reading other threads but nothing seemed to answer my question yet..

first off, i would love to know if the stock 04 yfz jetting would be even close to what i would need for my z with 0' elevation, full exhaust, uni filter no lid no snorkel..i know i know check the database its so hard to navigate sorry lol

second, if the stock jetting isnt good (i kind of want the adjustable needle either way) do you (whoever you are) think this is a smart/good deal?
Yamaha YFZ 450 YFZ450 Needle/3 Jets Carb/Carburetor Kit | eBay

3 jets, an adjustable needle and an oring for 13 shipped? sounds like a good deal to me..

next question: im aware i need to change my air boots but i see everyone runs a different one. has a decision been made yet on what is the best option? ive seen 400ex boot, drze, yfz etc etc..im at a loss here in this department. this is basically all i need to take care of before i install..

thanks for all the help. sorry if there are any repeat questions but in my defense the forum ignores words less than 3 letters in a search

You need to search FCR mods and jetting data base. I ride sea level so look at me jet set up, It will most likely not just bolt and go, do the research before buying anything. Here is one I recommend, but search more

400ex airbox to Carb boot, Drze intake boot, a compact headstay, and you'll be set.

take a hair dryer/heat gun to the stock boot, it'll work, or use fuel filler hose as others have done.

I have read that. And I'm not ruling it out. But tht seems like a big stretch...3mm is about .120" and that doesnt sound like a fun stretch

I stretched my stock H2C boot. Wasnt that hard at all and didnt have to even use heat.

400EX boot can be found on here or ebay pretty cheap.

Your stock headstay will work just fine.

The jet "kit" you posted, well, sucks. You can definitely get a better one off there for cheap. Search FCR jet. You will want to get some more pilot jets also. I would suggets an adjustable fuel screw. There isnt much room underneath to adjust it. Flex Jet works great.

I can almost guarantee you the carb will not be set up to what you need. Id tell you what I have mine set up, but honestly I dont remember.

Also check out the FCR mods thread. ( I think this was mentioned). Youll need to time the AP pump just right and maybe do the "o ring" mod. Welcome to FCR tuning....

Its really not that hard. Just do you reseach. Thumper Talk has a lot of good FCR info too. Get everything you need before hand.

Got mine from a local dealer for like $10. Maybe Motosport.com OEM parts?

Ok and what I meant to ask was is the jetting stock going to be on the lean side or the rich side? I will order a bunch of jets from jetsrus I'd like to have an idea of what sizes around I should be looking at

You will likely be rich.
Go through the jetting database, look for similar mods and altitude and jet accordingly.

I have just done my FCR 39 install and am also at sea level.
175 Main
45 Pilot
2 and 1/2 out on fuel screw
o ring mod
Needle (GYTR) on second clip from bottom
The Carb to head boot fits just use a hairdryer to warm it up and then put it on.
Carb to airbox, just loosten the bolts on the side of the airbox so that it has a bit of play in it then just mate them up, tighten and test.
In all takes about 2 to 3 hours but worth it.
