Lol! I'll think about it, wouldn't hurt to have it for a spare at campsite never know if I might need it for an emergency. The reason I got the K&N was because I felt the bike was running a little rich. Once I put it on I felt it breath just a little bit better and spark plug is perfectly light tan color. The extreme breathes thru the top of the filter, it has the cotton mesh and screen just like the side has it so air comes in from all around. Regular has the black plastic top so it just breathes from the sides. That FCI filter would be great on a daily driver.

I love my Uni. Very easy to clean when needed and I have never noticed any dust in the carb when I pull it off.
Good signs

Both UNI and K&N are great filters, but only if they are regularly cleaned. The Key issue here is MAINTENANCE!

This looks like it would fit the std. 3" after-market Z intake flange.
But I'll still trade you two regular K&N's for your FCI filter..........I can get a tube for next to nothing.

I'm going to have to have you mill something for the Weber IDA 48's on my buggy......can't keep the sand out of the idle jets.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. I have owned my 03 ltz400 since it was new and have passed it down to my son. On the subject of the K&N vs foam the first thing to do is get rid of the factory filter setup especially if you are running an open airbox. I went with the pro design setup (clamp-on style) There are alot of other great aftermarket intakes, do some research. We run the K&N for in sand and some competitions. I prefer a foam UNI filter in dusty conditions. Non of this matters if the filter is not maintained. My ltz has run great for 9 years! Take this for what its worth ..... By the way great forum!
Pro design intake K&N/UNI Motoworks exhaust Re- jetted/needle ect.. 155 main Dynatek fs ignition 500' above sea level in MO. |
