Default Yoshi exhaust questions...

So I am looking to get a new exhaust system. Right now I am leaning towards a Yoshi. Whatever I buy I want a full system, not a slip-on. I don't race or need the biggest power gain from my pipe, but I would like a high quality product that produces some more power without sounding obnoxious. So here are my questions:

1.) Yoshimura RS-2 or RS-3 system(I am assuming the Yoshi system with the carbon fiber can is the RS-3)?

2.) Does the head pipe that comes with either system need to be replaced to something better or is that not an option?

3.) I currently run a UNI filter, does a new pipe require that to be changed to something better?

I have a jet kit, so I know that it will need to be re-jetted with the addition of a new pipe.

I am not 100% set on a Yoshi, but I am definitely leaning that way. I am open to suggestions.

They did make the rs-3 in carbon, not sure if they ever made the rs-2 in carbon.

The head pipe from the yoshimura system is excellent, no need to change. It also offers the ability to use your stock heat shield, which is a big plus in my book.

A uni filter is just fine, however if you have not converted your air box to a clamp on style, it would be highly beneficial to do so.

I have a jet kit, so I know that it will need to be re-jetted with the addition of a new pipe.

I have the full rs-3 system and love it, never had any problems with it, and the optional tec insert does quiet it down a bit.
I think whichever yoshimura system you go with, you'll be happy. There's been a used carbon rs-3 up on ebay for a while, and it looks like it's in good shape.

Yeah I am gonna buy it as soon as my tax return is deposited. I already talked to him. That's an RS-3 system right?

Yep, been watching it for a while! I'd love the carbon system to swap w my rs-3, but for looks it's not worth that much to me! If I didn't already have an rs-3, i'd have scapped it up .

Good luck and enjoy!

There's a brand new carbon rs-3 system on there now too, pm me if u need the link

What system is better, the RS-2 or the RS-3?

I don't know much about the rs-2 system, can't imagine there'd be all that much difference aside from styling. Personally, i'd get the trc system if I could afford it. Suzuki ray has one for sale for $500-600 I believe.

I have the full Yoshimura RS-2 on my z and I love it. The head pipe that comes with the system is a perfect match and it all by itself adds hp and tq over the stock head pipe. Your filter will be fine with the system and after you jet the carb you will see about 3 1/2 to 4hp gain. I did a new intake cam and K&N air box lid and twin air filter with my new exhaust and got 6hp and and 4 1/2 tq gain

Considering you already have a full exhaust (going by your sig), I'm not sure you'll see too much if any gain from the yosh.

Why don't you spend that $ on some cams and a carb?

the cost was good to me. I didn't at the time want to break into the motor so this route was an easy decision for me. the extra power is very worth it. My wife's z is 100% stock and she even loves the extra power that my z has. If you are going to go for the big power gains you will have to do all the mods that you are looking at doing now so if you money situation makes it to take one step at a time the exhaust is the way to start.
As far as "is the RS-3 better then the RS-2" all I can say is I love my RS-2 and the RS-3 will be the same or a little better.

You already have an after maket exhaust like biggie says keep what you have and do the FCR carb and cams

+1 or just get the FCR and 400ex boot.

Yoshimura Rs-2 Vs Rs-3

I am not really looking for super power gains. I am replacing the exhaust I have now because I don't like the look of it at all. I bought it used, the price was right, but now that I've dropped all this time and money into powder coating and plastics, why not get it how I want it. I was asking if the $$ was worth the TRC system.

I'm happy with my rs2 it made a great improvement over stock(as expected) it looks good sounds good and performs good. It is a little loud but it doesn't bother me

Spend what you're comfortable with. They'll all be about the same performance wise. Trc will be lighter.

So the only benefit of the TRC aside from aesthetics, is weight reduction?
