04-08 bearing carrier in a 03 swingarm?

Got an '03 Z400. I lost all the adjuster hardware (two studs, nuts and plate) and my bearings are going, so I was thinking I'd put in a 04-08 axle bearing carrier setup instead (and buy the parts to make it work). You guys think this would work? Seems cheaper as that carrier is cheaper on ebay, plus getting the replacement adjustment items for the '03 looks like it'll cost a bit.

forgot to mention the old carrier is shot as far as the adjuster, the adjustment studs were stripped.
