If you wanted to run the Blingstar guard, or any other guard that's made for the Honda 450R, LSR makes a sprocket hub for the Z with a 450R sprocket bolt pattern. Only problem is that the 450R comes factory with a 38T sprocket and if your running anything larger than that it's not gonna protect as well.

I didn't see a price either. Im not sure if I would order from south Africa? I know on Craigs list there are a ton of scams connected there? I think the pair of plates to make them could be had for 30-40 bucks. I saw them on a z about five years ago but I couldn't find the manufacture that made it! I don't like the normal skid, you loose ground clearance and I've had rocks crushed between the plate and sprocket before. That's rough on everything, even axle bearings!

That would work good but , $$$! On the plus side I could go 15/38 and be close to stock gearing and still run steel on the back. The downside is chain combo, hub, and guard is a lot of money!
I'll keep this in mind, thanks. As for cost the blingstar one was $230 but also comes with a brake gaurd also. And I'm guessing it's useless on the z swinger. They don't make it for the ltz at all!

FlynBryn has ran a much cheaper alternative than what I had suggested. he had actually bought a sprocket blank from a sprocket manufacturer. I think he had to use some spacers, but I'm sure it bolted right on. It was an outer guard only though, but there are many XC racers out there that run outer guards only with much success. Maybe he'll chime in with more info on it for ya. I haven't seen him on here in quite some time though. I know he made a thread about it on another site. I may see if I can dig it out for ya later.

By the way, what do you plan on doing to protect the rotor?

Yeah you'd need an aftermarket swingarm with the lsr sprocket hub and honda style carrier to run the inside sprocket guard and rotor guard.
Check out rebel gears you can order a blank sprocket for the ltz and space it out. Then you can have the outer sprocket guard on a Z. For the rotor could bend up some aluminum or steel plate and bolt it to the stock skidplate mounts.

Well I haven't looked in to it too far into it yet. I'd like to make something similar to the bling star one or a remember one that was made out of plastic type stuff. If I can't, I could just cut off the chain side of my plate but, I'd rather not ruin it. Here's a dirty pic of the gaurd I'm running.

What skid is that you have there? I've seen other guards for the Z that offered better ground clearance. I really see no advantages to cutting that skid to run a sprocket guard. Ground clearance will be slightly improved at best.

It's a dg baja I think. Maybe it was a freak thing but, I got a rock pinched between the skid and chain and wrecked my almost new axle bearings!
