custom skids?

I am a fabricator and I am going to make some skid plates out of aluminum for the A-arms and chassis. does anyone have any picstures so I can get an idea of how some other people make them work?

All you need is flip the quad up on the grab bar and cut a template on the outline of the frame. Use .190 aluminum, drill 5 holes, and three 3/4" electrical conduit clamps. It will need what I think is a 5 degree bend where the frame bends up for the a arm mounts, I didn't measure but its a well educated guess. On the frame you'll see to M6 nuts welded to mounts below the engine close to the swingarm crossmember. Use that for two mounts then use the three 3/4" clamps behind the a arm mounts and then the last one goes on the front cross member where the bottom of the front bumper bolts to.

For the a arms use the same clamps 4 each side. You'll need an extra inch and a 1/2 bigger then the a arm front and back on the template then bend the extra to 90 degree to cover the a arms from rocks and junk. I hope I explained it good enough.

Oh yeah and I use old radiator hose cut up and zip tied to the bottom of the frame rails so it doesn't rattle

For tools you'll need a plasma cutter, drill, saw, grinder, and a good metal brake.

i have access to a hydraulic sheer, brake and a small machine shop. i should drill holes so they will drain water correct?

do you have a pic of yours?

I had to trim my bumper about 3/8 of an inch but it was smashed to sh*t so it was no surprise.

I mad this from " state funded donated aluminum" cause my factory one split. All I used was jig saw and my bench vise with a piece of conduit to roll it

Nice i cant wait to make mine. I'm using stainless to cut mine. It's heavier but so much stronger than aluminum.

I can, BUT If I do In not gonna bend the sides down I can send it with the ears and let you decide. reasoning being the kinda cracked a little I didn't mind cause its on my bike but I don't want tI send it to someone like that.

I made mine from aluminum and recessed-screwed it to the frame because there were holes already there from previous owner. I thought about the conduit clamps but I wanted to weld teflon nuts to them but thought the plastic in the nuts would burn out. I'll post some pics .......BTW I had to make mine in 2 pieces.....main frame and the skinny part under the oil tank, because I didn't have the lenght in material. then found out when I went to change my oil. I didn't drill a hole to drain the tank.

What u see is what there is really although I did space it out with one washer under each bolt
