Default 300ex spring in the rear.

Hey guys just wanting to know if you have ever heard of swapping the rear spring from a 300ex onto our rear shock. When I purchased my quad from the previous owner he had said that this had been done to it. I also received a spring the supposedly the stock rear spring.

All I can tell you guys is if this is true I highly recommend it. When my wife had her Z you couldnt ever launch it because it would always want to stand straight up. With mine it sits a tad lower in the rear and launches like a dragster. Night and Day difference really. The Previous owner used to race GNCC. I have not seen this mod listed anywhere on the site so I was one, wanting to maybe verify this had been done to my quad and two, let everyone else know that I would recommend it for a super cheap mod.

one is mounted up on the shock and the other isn't so it is really rough to see any difference between them. I am at work now but when I get home, if needed, I can snap some pics. They are both red haha

Seems logical, I've always thought the rear was a little too stiff (just the spring) a more gradual link helps to take a lot of the harshness out of the rear as well.

All I know is mine compared to stock makes one heck of a difference on keeping the front end down. I might have some pics of the two quads sitting side by side.

Do you jump much? How different are they for jumping? I suppose you could always turn the compression up to make up for it, but I'm a heavy rider, and i've found that I have the compression maxed most of the time. I need to re-valve, but I think a re-valve may go real nicely with that spring.

Biggest air I get is about 4ft off the ground. So no I never really jump. It is all woods riding for me. Big trees do fall though and you have to stack other logs in front of them to ramp over them and thats always fun. Sorry I couldn't help on that portion of this swap.

By the way even when I had my stock axel my quad wasn't near as tippy as the wifes either. it would want to slide out on you before flipping you.

I don't think that's a stock 300ex spring. Im checking them on ebay and all the ones I see are progressively wound. The coils are spaced closer together on one end and farther apart on the other. Also the 300ex shock is almost impossible to take apart since they don't have threaded collars.Looks more like the 400ex spring. I'll check the garage later I have both shocks down there.

Well I went down there an looked. I would bet that is a 400ex spring. Same number of coils as what you have.
