Default best mounting place for wheelie bars

I have an 04 z400 and i sometimes line up against my buddy's cars. I have a big problem with the front end coming up off the line and i want to make a wheelie bar for it that i can remove fairly easily. Where would the best place be to secure a wheelie bar?

Tech help is for runability problems... Moved to Suspension & Chassis-->

This is a good question, and something I have contemplated. My first thought would be to build a bracket that you can slip in between the carrier bolts and carrier, and use that bracket to mount your lower tube, then run your upper tube to the grab bar. Suspension movement will affect the height of the wheelie bar this way though.

I suppose another way would be to put one bracket above and below the swing arm, and run your wheelie bars to them.

A much easier way is just to lower the thing. If you drop the suspension down either by lowering kits or struts, you would be surprised at how much harder you can launch without a wheelie. I lower mine for drag racing.

I saw a home made wheelie bar on a raptor and the guy mounted it to the bottom of the swingarm using the skid plate bolts. Suppose you could do the same to the z. It didn't have the typical upper/lower tubes like CFM is talking about, just two big lower tubes. Seemed to work good for him. He also had the front lowered with struts.

X2^^^^^ I swapped out my stiff stock suspension for a softer GT thunder set - up w/ link..... Front end stays down much more now....

Best place to mount one, on a drag car....

It depends on the bars you have or build. I can see swing arm or maybe lower sub-frame mounting hole.

i think i am going to have a clamp for the upper tube that clamps on to the grab bar and then have the bottom tubes mount under the swing arm. the only thing that i have left to find is the go cart wheel.

I'm not sure how that'll work seeing as the distance between your grab bar and swingarm is constantly changing due to the suspension, but I'm curious to see it when you're done.

Lower it or longer Swingarm. Unless your running in the 3's in the 300ft, I suppose you'll get some if not, a lot of laughs. I'd just lower it.
