Did you clean the carb yet? It very well could be something in the bowl that just gets sucked up against the jet sometimes.......we had a Honda Recon that would do the same thing.
If you run it on Prime and it doesn't do it then it is most likely the pet WooterWooterWooterWooter.

No i haven't gotten the quad yet to work on it. He should be getting it to me this weekend. I have taken my Blaster's carb apart a few times but is the Z400's carb any more complicated? Anything i should look out for like springs or parts that will fall out when takin it apart? I'm planning on replacing the petcock and cleaning out the carb. What do you guys recommend to use for cleanin out the carb? Brake clean or carb cleaner? Hope that fixes the issue.

Be very careful with the four screws that hold the bowl on. If it's been off before and they are at all WooterWooterWooterWooterWooter*d up then you could be in trouble. The heads strip easy. Use a tip that fits into them perfectly. If they strip on you and you have a dremel, cut a slot and use a flat head. That's what I had to do on two of mine. You can also start off with an impact driver with a tip that fits perfectly.
Once you get the bowl off it's pretty straight forward. Carb cleaner and air.
Take one of the bowl screws to the hardware shop and get SS hex head screws/bolts to replace them. Do the same for the screws on the clamps that are on the boots.

Looks like a fun place to ride! Hope you get the Z working better. A lo of people here get the raptor petcock?? Think it's the raptor one anyways. Might be worth it.

Hey i got to get my quads to the woods somehow! LOL Thats an off road park in PA. (Rauschcreekoffroadpark.com) Great legal place to wheel. I've read about the raptor petcock and suggested that to my buddy but since its not my quad yet he wanted to replace it with an OEM one so we just went in that direction.

Makes sense. I just run mine on prime and it has never done me wrong.

Cool

Looks like the oring gasket on that bowl is corroted, might want to buy a new one to make sure it seals better so nothing gets in the carb again
