Alright guys I just bought Z455's 42mm non FCR carb for my build. I am trying to figure out a baseline of where I should start Jetting it. I have searched through the Jetting database and their are three others that have been running this carb. Here are their Setups. Z455 please fill in your blanks if you could.
1. Main - 172 Pilot - 48 Needle - HRC 3rd Clip Cams - Hot Cams (not specified on which ones) Size- 439 (Compression not specified) elevation - 4200 2. Main - 185 Pilot - 48 Fuelscrew - 3 turns Needle - 2nd clip from top Size - Stock Cams - Curtis Sparks Elevation - Sea Level 3. Z455 Main - 178 Pilot- 50 Fuelscrew-IDK Needle-IDK Size-455 12.5:1 Cams-OSHC Elevation- 4. Me Size - 434 with 12:1 Compression then Drze thickness base gasket Cams - NSHC Intake - ProDesign Exhaust - Full Trinity Stage IV Elevation - 387

Start out with a 175/45 setup. You've got a similar set up to mine, at similar elevation. Mine is pretty much spot on that way. Fuel screw is 2.5 turns out. On the 3rd clip.

Go with Big's advice, I'm running 175/45 as well. I have a FCR39 and he has a 40. Other than that our set-ups are pretty similar.

Well I decided to start off with a 175 main and 48 pilot and it is popping alot on decel so it is lean right? I know a leak in air flow can cause it to go lean. I have heard what sounds like a pulsing whisttle. I have checked all connections(on intake side I used brake clean to check) and can't find a leak anywhere. I can't even pin point where the noise is coming from. Does the 04 05 450r carb whistle like the FCRs? any ways what are you opinions I am currently running a 175main and a 48pilot. Here is a vid of the popping. I have read biggie saying to up the main and Chuck says to up the pilot. Who is right?
