Default 04 z400 sputters when i give it gas, Help!

I have an 04 z400 with a lexx mxe slip on and k&n air filter with the lid on. I rejetted the main to a 152 with a dyno jet kit. i changed all the other jets except one to 140s. It sputters out in every gear except first. Should i put a bigger main jet in? or any other ideas?

what do you mean by "I changed all the other jets except one to 140s"?
If it sputters when you first give it gas it isn't the main jet. Did you put the needle in that came with the kit and did you adjust the fuel screw?

first thing would be to take the lid off the air box

You really didn't change much from stock by just adding a K$N and a slip-on. If anything put the jets back to what they were stock. Maybe up the main by one and play with the fuel screw. Or take that lid off and leave the larger jets. The only jets you should change is the main and pilot.

to spize909 i changed the main to a 152 and the rest to 140s but i missed 1 jet which is still stock. i did change the needle also.

There are only 3 jets under the float bowl of the Z400, and none of them are "140".. The main is a 130, the pilot is a 25, and the fuel enrichment circuit jet (choke) is a 50 or something small like that..

You're probably running rich, a slip on and a closed lid won't do much to change your jetting. Go back to stock jetting and see how it runs. What's your elevation?

If you got the dynojet kit...........why didn't you just follow the directions.
The only jet you touch is the main jet. It's the one with the little plastic cup on it.
The 152 may be ok.......but if you messed with anything else that is your problem.

i did wht the directions said they said a 152 for the main but i just took off the air box lid nd it runs great now no sputtering

The directions tell you to change the main jet, not any others. You didn't do what the directions said if you changed "all the other jets".
