Default Tune up/Carb clean?

I live in miami but in a week and a half im taking my bike up to a buddys land to ride. I have realized that since i bought my bike its been getting harder to start. When i bought it i would leave it in my backyard for days walk out with no choke on and 3 turns and its on. Now after taking it out to trails twice it takes me forever to start, i believe my choke might not even be functional. Should I clean the carb could that be the issue? Once its on and i get it warmed it runs perfectly fine. It also has a k&n air filter with some big adaptor behind the filter looks like the good stuff, should i buy the recharge kit and clean up the filter? What can I clean the carb with ordinary carb cleaner or should i use the better more sensitive mass air cleaner?

could be dirty carb or stuck choke. but my bet would be valves getting out of adjustment. l would check the clearances.

Valves getting out of adjustment? How do I check that? I thought it might be stuck but once i get it on it runs perfect. Its literally just the cold start up...once i get it one it runs a little rough for about 30 seconds then bam perfectly fine and starts right up after that.

do a search on here. as much as i hate when read that. its true in this case. and get your self a manual. its a little bit of work but if you some basic mechanic skills not that hard. things start to ware and got to change the size of of shims.

My bike is pretty new though shouldn't this happen after a nice amount of mileage? Or can it happen from sitting? I'll start at the carb and filter as I work full time and go to school. Once I'm done with school and it's still hard to start I might just look into camming the motor since I'll already be in there.

If it's just been sitting there then you should clean out the carb, and check the petcock is functioning properly...Have you tried running the bike on 'prime' on the petcock, probably not your problem, but just trying to go through a number of possibilities.

Clean the carb thoroughly, then if it's still not any better, replace plug, and check valves (honestly it's not that hard to do!)

It really isn't lol but it's not the effort but the time. And yes I have a feeling it might be the petcock giving me issues and the choke all together. Which one is the prime setting? RR? Should I order a new petcock or put one from a raptor like I have seen?

Come to think of it this all started after i was playing with the choke know not knowing what it is, then after i found out it was the choke i would try cranking with it on and its just been a mess afterwards. Thats how well my bike runs, when i first got it i never touched the choke and it would always crank right up. Im such a moron. I will be replacing the choke and if problems persist i will go ahead and take that petcock off your hands. Anyone know if the local autozone or maybe a motorsports place will have a choke for my bike? I hear a lot of ppl put the ebay ones but i leave the 16th not sure if i have enough time.

I order my pull choke off eBay and it was a super easy install I don't know if you can get them at autozone.

Got off early from school today pulled the choke cable until it literally came out of the rubber and it started right up. Turns out before on a thread I started a while back it was stuck closed hence why the great starts yet running bad while hot then now I had hard starts but ran great when it gets hot. I went to the local power sports store and they had the same choke but it'll be tommoro. Thanks for ur help guys!
