Did you have better throttle response after you cut the 3 coils off the spring? Would you say that 3 is too many or it's a perfect amount?

Hi, im new here but i was wanting to do this mod as i have been reading about it alot but im not sure were the spring is located or what it is behind so i was wondering if anyone have any pictures as to what the spring is behind?

Top of the carb, under the black thing with two screws holding it on. Remove the two screws.

take the cover off and that's where the spring is.

If it were me I'd remove plastics and tank as needed to get to it. You can also pull the carb out. I'm not sure you can twist it far enough while still in the boots to get to the top.

If you pull the slide out (the black seal around the top of the carb) you will notice on the bottom of the slide there are 2 holes. These are the vacuum holes. If you drill them out to one size larger (using a 1/8" bit), the slide will respond quicker. This along with the spring trimming makes a pretty noticeable difference in my opinion..

No no rejetting will be required as it does not alter the air/fuel mixture. As mentioned above do not cut too many coils off and you may get a hanging throttle. Let us know how you get on.

When I get my Z back I think I will do this, if I mess up I'll just get a new spring.
