two questions for ya'll, first off, i got my Artrax tires and are loving them but on little the stiff side and they are rattling my teeth out, im running at 15psi whats the safest amount lower i can go. My other ??? is has anyone ever heard of using mop'n'glo to restore there plastic or at least get it looking nice i've heard its good so just wondering cause i may have to go out and pic up some if the claims are true

you can take it off and wire brush it, and sand it. I'm not sure what it will come out like, but its worth the try I suppose.
I just now saw your second question, I did mine with medium scotch bright pads and wd40, and then went over it with wd40 and a rag. To be honest though it did leave some small scuffs, and dulled up the plastics. It made em white again, but they are no longer shiny

15 psi is a lot, probably why they are so stiff. Lower them to 4-5 psi, they will ride much better.

I can't believe I didn't get any pics of it before I sold it but you can wire brush the header really well down to bare metal and then paint it with anti-sieze. Then run it through 2 minutes heat cycles until it stops smoking and stinking and it's pretty much burnt on for life like ceramic coating. I've done it on 3 different exhausts and it looks sweet. If your pipe is actually rusting though and you don't get completely down to bare metal it will start rusting through again

You should still wire brush the crap out of it and take it down to the metal. Your finish will hold up 100x better over the long run. Oh and use a degreaser thats doesn't leave a film behind because even finger prints cause problems.

You will still need to get down to completely bare metal or it won't soak in. Yes that sounds weird but the way its painted on it will stain into the metal but if it isn't bare it will just rub off.
I usually just use the brush and roughly paint it on a bunch of areas then use an old t-shirt and rub it into the metal. You'll want to wear gloves and terrible clothes because anything it touches it won't come off of. I usually wrap the pipe in a garbage bag once I'm done to install it without making a mess

for white plastics you can use mr clean magic eraser, it knocks off some gloss but they come out pure white. i dont know how it will work with other colors, probably just as good.
tires should be 4-7 psi, depending on riding style, terrain, and size. camaro had posted pics of a aluminum anti-sieze coating on some v8 headers he did, it looked legit! i never tried it, but you can use a wire wheel or emery cloth to bring it down to metal and use hi temp header paint and it will hold up really well. |
