Default KFX450 Reverse Lever

After seeing a brief glimpse of this mod I knew that my wife would love it for her quad. She hates me changing anything and getting rid of the blob and doing the hotstart reverse may not have agreed with her. She wasn't too keen on this at first either...............until she used it. Loves it.
I picked up another for Brad's quad and installed it today. 15 minutes at the most and this is not some mickey mouse deal like the hotstart way of doing it. The cable fits perfect and when adjusted it works perfect. If I had mine to do over again this is how I would do it.
I will be ditching the blob on Brad's quad, just won't be doing the hotstart/reverse. I think I just need the kill button and I'll have everything for his.
I paid under $35 shipped for each one. If you do it make sure all the parts are there. This is where I got the last one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KFX450-KFX45...item20bf9fb7e1

Now you just need to put a water proof cigarette lighter in that hole for the original reverse knob. You never know when your gonna need it. Also serves as a good hookup point for a solar battery charger to maintain your battery for free when not in use. Works really good.

Awsome! I'm gona go this route for mine. I still don't have anything for all my wirning that's been hanging ever since I installed my antivibe stem. I will put my ignition where my reverse knob was and drill three holes in my front plastics for my indicator lights Great thread, it will help alot of other people out

Forgot to mention, all you need is the bottom piece with the clamp and lever. It bolts right up to the Z thumber. I'm pretty sure the top is the same part as the Z thumber. It's really easy. You just adjust till there is no more slop in the lever then take it a hair more. You can test as you go and when it goes into reverse easily you're done.

Beautiful day today!

There was a post (within a post) about this a while back and it had been brought up before as well. I'm surprised it never really caught on. I think it's better then the Dr. D as the lever is closer to the grip. It's a great mod.
I decided to get rid of his parking brake today as well. Had the block-off for a while but was waiting to get rid of the blob. Once I did that I went down to Cycle Rider and bought an $18 clutch perch/lever and got rid of the stock mess. He may just be stuck with the blob. I do like the hi/low on the headlight as I have one stock and one HID in there. Low beam is the stock light and it's better with alot of dust (IMO).

Is that the only thumber it's native to? I picked up a nice chrome/polished, one off a Trx450R,For the FCR install and would like to do the reverse mod.Ive been Pondering since I seen that old thread a while back, but wasnt sure on fitment.....I may have to see if the perch clamp off the Z will fit that thumber,..Your thoughts?...I was also thinking of doing "DUAL" HotStart levers, L&R one for HS & one for rev. I found HS perch clamps good for both sides as well as matching colors. Also the "BLOB" delete would tie it all together

If the clamp is the same I would think it would work.
I have a Honda thumber on my quad and saw a good deal on a chrome cover so I picked one up. It looks good but it can reflect the sun in your eyes really bad if everything lines up right.........

Spize,

I am going to bring my quad to your house. I'm gonna leave it there for a month, with a check list of all the stuff I want done to it. 30 days later, I'll come pick it up, completed. That's cool right?

That's an awesome tip. I just bought one seeing how clean it is, can't wait to bolt it on.

I like my hotstart reverse but this is actually made for what it's doing.

So...if you like the high/low beam option but don't like the blob why don't you just get a 2 position switch from Radio Shack, etc. and mount it somewhere on your "Spize" dash. This is what I'm working on doing to mine. I started tearing into it last night. I ordered one of these switches, I just don't have a dash to mount it to yet.

Miniature Rocker Switches - Rocker Switches | MSCDirect.com

I also didn't like the cheezy feeling of the "hot start" reverse. I used one of the cable adjusters off of the stock clutch and I can get it adjusted nicely, until it goes into reverse. Then it gets all kinds of slop in it. I might just leave reverse in the stock location, it really doesn't bother me there.
