If you have your battery up there couldn't hypothetically you can have all of the electronics up there?
The only downside I could see to that is mud getting on it and or a stick rammed up in there and ripping out connectors.

As for when you guys said that from the tires it flings all the dirt up there the 09 plastics have a small enclosed compartment on the left hand side.

I haven't moved my cdi (yet) but you make a great point. Maybe that cover can be utilized on the older Z's. I've been wanting to get a new wiring harness for mine for a while, maybe I should just make my own and move the CDI up front. I did move my battery up front. I highly suggest that! I still can't believe how much different that made it feel. It lower's your center of gravity, and adjusts the weight percentage towards the front. It really helps keep the front end down.

I did that with my dyna and over 6 mo. It cracked the cdi case all over from the vibration. I had to cover it with epoxy to to hold it together and keep water out.

There's a frame brace with some holes in it, and the battery box is bolted to that. Not real complicated. You can also see here that I moved the solenoid to the front. I tapped into the wiring harness right there and spliced into the start wire.

My Z does not use the stock headlight or the headlight bucket to hold the plastic up. The plastic mounts to the two aluminum brackets you see in the pic also.

You can see the bolts in my front plastic in this pic.

Do you find that it makes the bike front heavy?

It did make a difference, but with a high power Z, it's a good difference. The main thing I noticed is you can put more power down without the front end coming up so quick. It also takes a little more throttle going over a jump, but I don't notice it anymore.

Wouldn't extra weight in the front then mean leabweight in the back for the tires to grip? Or is it just more balanced?
