Here's some pics of what I just made to mount my ballast. I had these laying around since I removed the hid fog lights from my Saturn. I ordered the right bulbs for the Z last night and should have everything completed by later this week.
Im using the holes on the side of the frame to mount the bracket to. I figured this is the best place to mount the ballast. ![]() I started with this piece of aluminum that I found at Lowes. It cost me like $4 for it. ![]() Sitting on the frame and how it will eventually be mounted ![]() and the ballast attached. Everything fits fine with the headlights and front plastic. ![]() ![]() Still debating if I should paint it or not.

Yup, I would paint it black so it wont show as much.
Don't forget to post a pic showing how well they do!

I would think with that thin of a strip of aluminum will bend down if your hitting jumps, but then again I don't know how much the ballasts weigh so maybe you'll be fine.

I was concerned with that as well. The ballast seemed to make the piece more rigid with them bolted on.

thats a Good idea. I put mine right up under the headlight assembly. There is the double-sided sticky pad and the zip tie goes through the housing so you cant see it on the front and the light still sits flush on the fender. I only did one ballast but you could fit the other on the other side plus i tucked most of the extra wiring inside the assembly as there is a small cavity.

I would have done mine exactly like how you guys did, but I have the bulky ballast not slim ones.

I painted everything with some rustoleum hammer effect paint and cleared it. I missed the side of the bracket when painting so im going to have to touch it up tomorrow.

When you screw into the back of the light housing, I would assume you have to be careful not to screw too far into the lense? Any worry about water getting in, or the plastic on the headlight cracking from the screws? I like the idea of a separate bracket. I need to do some more studying on how to wire mine up, just waitin for my new headlight to come...
