Its not worth it and won't last unless your drag guy that never flexs the plastics or scratches them. Plenty of people do it, but it will not last.

I recently got a dvd called Plastic repair and refinishing from fullblownkustoms.com and they are doing a quad in it. Maybe just for show, looks good though.

I painted mine and i can say that it was a good idea for now because i didnt want to spend 500 plus on plastics. it turned out pretty good and if theres a scratch just a quick spray and its gone. i used dupli-color paint it holds up really good i think

Paint is only as good as the prep work. There are adhesion promoters that will help adhesion to the plastic. You will need flex additives for the paint. Those items are costly. Some adhesion promoters cost upwards of $60-$70 for a Pint. Flex additives can be pricey too. So by the time you do proper prep work and paint, you could be out weighing the cost of new plastics. So to expect like new painted plastics, is unrealistic. To cover some beat plastics to improve the look, Paint away.

^ This.

Adhesion products and the like can certainly be bought for plastic, but keep in mind that these products are made for platic bumpers or panels on an automobile that will never see the amount of flex that atv plastics do. They will hold on for a while, but will inevitably crack, spider web, and look like crap. As dtfm33 said, by the time you put the money in to do it "right" your just as well off (or cheaper) to buy new plastics.

I know im a little late on this but i painted mine with Krylon Fusion paint and had it painted for over a year and i mainly trail ride. Mine never cracked and hardly scratched. it took aircraft stripper and a plastic putty knife to remove the paint.
