Default ODI Rogues........seem to be melting

Well, I don't know what I got on my grips but I noticed on the last trip out that they are getting all sticky and gummy. Kind of like they are melting......or a chemical got to them. I can't imagine what it would be.

This brings up two questions:
What do you think caused this?
Can you just by ODI grips without the lock-on rings?

They were on the quad when I bought it in '07 so they've seen some pretty good use.

I already bought a brand new set but I have a problem with throwing things away......plus the kids quad still has the stockers.

I saw some on eBay when I was buying mine where you could just buy the grips without the lock rings. Very cheap I do believe

I have the ODI Rogues on my Z too and I know that they are expensive but well worth it. I don't remember seeing any that don't have the locks on the end but not really sure. The one thing to know about putting the left hand side grip is a pain in the a$$ with Pro Taper bars due to them being knerled. We had to pound the ever living crap out the grip with a rubber malet to get them on. lol

Yeah, I love them. My wife wanted them on hers too as soon as I got it. My son said he really didn't notice. What he did notice was the gearing. He rode the wife's (and mine a little) before we got the third one and as soon as he got on his he pickedup on the 14 tooth sprocket.......that 13 tooth sprocket changes everything riding Glamis.

Might be talking out my butt...
When i put new grips on i just give them a shot of compressed air and the grips literally just jump on the bar, right over the knurl. hope that helps.
works just as good getting them off too!

That works good with normal grips but not lock ons. they have plastic core.

You can pry the aluminum rings open a little bit to help them slide on. I had no problem getting mine on after I did that

ODI is the only grips I use on my rides. If you get the ones made for watercraft they get sticky when there wet and stuff. Some do it and some dont. ODI are the bomb though. I wont ever use another grip.

If you would have hit the knurled area with some sand paper they will slide right on. Had to do that with a couple sets of bars, Pro Taper was one of them. Easy fix though.

check ebay. got mine for 30 from the local shop though. If I bought another set I'd go ebay.

BTW, spize, what did you end up doing with them? you call Odi?

I emailed them and never got a response. They are local to me so some day soon I think I'll give them a call. I'd like to use the rings and slap some new grips on the kids quad.
