Default Swingarm skidplate

so the other day I purchased one of these:

it arrived today, I went to install it only to realize it doesn't cover about a 6"-8" section of my chain. So I searched a little and saw they make this style:

I like the protection of the full skid, but my question is, is it worth it? Do I need it? Will the shorter style work?

I do primarily trail ride. Thoughts? Opinions? Reviews?

I think you'll be okay with the one you bought.

Where did you purchase this from? I have the same set but forgot who I bought them from. I lost the small plate, (which covers the shock linkage) and would like to buy another to replace it.
Thanks.

It should be fine, I have a pro armor rear skid, it doesnt cover the whole chain. I ride in the woods and never had a problem with it.

I bought it from evileyes on here. It was as described and he shipped it instantly(for any future buyers), it was my fault for not realizing that there was a difference. Fx4pitrone, you said you have a new one? Which type, the short or longer one? make?
