That makes a lot of sense as far as leverage on the spindle. I was guessing it was because it would put more weight on the outside of the tire giving it more of a biting edge. But having smoother steering due to less bump steer is far more beneficial.

Another difference would be that you can now see your spindle nut loud and clear . I just mounted the 4-1's and did a dlr bearing conversion, so I threw them on to see what it looked like.

I'm gonna leave the front end all apart until I get the +2 arms in.

Is it better to have the front a little wider than the rear? I widened the rear by 1", but can change it very easily.

Yeah you want the front a little wider to make it easier for cornering. With your setup I think you'll be about 2-3 inches wider up front than stock

So maybe I should shorten the rear 1". I'll have to measure when it's all done.

Ideal is 1'' wider in the front than the rear.
