Default Differences in offset 3-2, 4-1

Just a quick question about the offsets, does a 4-1 make your front end wider, or more narrow?

I've currently got a set of 3-2's on and in lieu of getting new arms, I was wondering if a set of 4-1's would widen it up a tad and help handling.

Thanks for all your help!

wheel offsets are measured INSIDE_DISTANCE/OUTSIDE_DISTANCE. So 4/1 offset would be 4" on the inside, 1" on the outside.

They will make you narrower than stock offset which is roughly 3/2.

dished OUT rims will hurt handling and KILL you arms.

4/1 is best, but narowest overall.

Gotcha, so i'd lose two inches in the front. I guess I could make up for that with some nice +1 arms .

I'm running +1" arms with the 4+1 offset. It handles and turns so much better than stock arms and the 3+2 set up.

Good to know, now I just need to start saving. I want to pick up a set of those JD Mgc arms first, then grab a new set of front wheels.

I hope so! I can't wait to try it all out. Do you know the camber settings? is 3-4 degrees ok? I use my iphone to rough measure camber at work, so i'm hoping I can do the same with a quad.

So, what is the science behind 4-1 wheels handling better than the 3-2? I have heard it has something to do with something called scrub?

I guess 4-1 has less leverage for the wheel to push the tie rod, making smaller bumps less noticeable?

4-1 puts the weight more over the steering knuckle. This helps with feedback from bumps and makes for turning easier. Also helps with the suspension being its not spread out.

you can actually see it just by lightly kicking the front or back of the tire and watching how far the bars move with the different wheels. just like biggie said, the leverage against your arms is least with the 4/1.

I'm stoked to get all this stuff in the mail! The arms are going to take a couple weeks, but the wheels should be here soon.
