Ok guys you will see my setup in my signature. Before my last rebuild 3 weeks ago and addition mods like fcr 39mm 400ex boot and raptor petcock, in a 300' dirt drag and a few of my buddies kfx450r's if i kept my front end down and they didnt i beat them even though towards the end they pulled like crazy! and i weigh 270lbs.
My dilemma now as well as then is launch! especially now that i have a fcr 39mm and 400ex boot! and modded air box. i had curtis sparks piston 94mm piston kit with the stock 3 layer base gasket which at that point made it around the same as my new athena 94mm kit 12:3-1 ? with drz base! ok i wanna know what i can do to keep my front end down during these drag races. mind you i do alot of trail riding as well. so is doing a lowering kit the way to go? if so lower just the front end or front and back? reason im asking id like to switch the setup rather quickly in between different riding sessions? thanx

You could also buy a +1 or +2 swingarm. That will really help with the front end lifting up while launching. And you will still be able to ride most other situations. If you lower it and go trail riding your front end ground clearance will be a lot less. From what I understand the lowering kit lowers your center of gravity and adds more stability around corners.

Move your battery up front. That will help some. Also for a "cheap" lowering kit for the front, use ratchet straps. One for each shock and pull them pretty tight. Make sure they have a good tensile strength. Then when you trail ride, just take them off.

Well your battery is weight that will help keep your front end down. I forget where I saw who did it on here. (Maybe Spize, CFMz440, or KFXguy).

I moved mine up front. I have a +2 swingarm and +1 forward a-arms. I can bring it up in 1st through 4th but I have to try to bring it up in 3rd and 4th. Moving the battey definatly helped.

I would love an extended swinger though. Money is kind of flowing toward the sand rail (and the kids quad) these days.

Mine pull the wheels a couple inches in second... I leave in second anyway. I have a 4" swinger, and it's lowered. I don't really see the battery helping as much as the trouble youd go through to move it up front. Strap it down and that will help. It'll ride rough tho. My ultimate suggestion would be get some ltz250, trz250ex, or blaster or banshee shocks on the front. They are shorter. Then put a lowering link on the rear. You can change your height pretty quickly then. That's pretty much what I do. Also, 4" swinger is still just fine trail riding. Mine works well.
