Talking Skat Trak/Rim Selection

Hey guys, I'm in the market for some skat trak haulers and rims. By looking at my mods and riding in med heavy (sometimes wet) sand i wanted some opinions on best combo for my bike. I will be mainly dragging. Tax season is on it's way

22" or 20" ?

9" rim or 10" ?

8 - 9 - 10 paddle ?

hauler or hauler extremes ? Decided on- standard haulers

Question

This a 20" on a 9" blue label. Do you think a 22" would be too big for my bike?

I rather a 21" or 22" anyday. Floats better. Gear to compensate. 8 paddles would be good for med to heavy and slightly wet sand.

Or maybe even a 9 paddle. 8 inch rim. Extreme hauler has a thicker blade.

Ok, ruled out extremes, I'd probably need a longer swinger for that lol.
With 13 t sprocket paddles spun too much so I'm going with 14 t. Would a 22" 9 paddle 9" rim hurt my speed up top in 4th gear? Rather than a 22" 9 paddle 8"'rim would increase my speed up top? Thanks for the help BTW

you don't need 9 paddles.........especially in that wet stuff.
I'd say 8", 8 paddle, 21"

Mostly just drag racing and jumping. I will be buying them next month brand new so I want to make sure I pick them out right.

That sounds like a good choice, 8 paddle it is then.

well if you're gonna be doing alot of draggin', I'd listen to Cat or kfxguy.
Like I said, I personally run 8" 6 paddle Haulers and they're all the paddle I need but I have some 8's on my wifes and they use to be on mine and I'm pretty sure I'm faster now. The 6's have more rollout though so that may have something to do with it.

Ok, i'll be shooting for 8 or 9 paddle any how. I would want to take the holeshot all the time so maybe 9 paddle would hook up quicker?

maybe 9 paddles will rob power and spin slower...................just sayin'
There is a happy medium between hooking up and loosing hp. If you have too much hook-up and no provision for looping it (wheelie bar or extended swinger) then you'll be feathering the throttle anyway and then it's a waste of paddle.
I think 8 is even too much on a quad that's set-up with a stock swinger and mid-range power.

Question

Bump! My W-2's came in so I need some help with my paddle set up. Im gona buy a 400ex rear spring (hoping will help restrict poping a wheelie on take off) and some light blue labels or maybe drag cut rims for the rears (shamrock style rims to save some weight) so I need some help And if I decide to go with 21" tire where can I find one? All I run into is a 20 or 22 every where I look

Yes, less material so they're lighter but not by much but I suppose every little bit helps.
