Default So Cal

Just wanted to know how many members live in the so cal area? I'm located in the Ventura county area and never have anyone to ride with. Usually head off to Hungry Valley but wanna know where everyone else down here rides.

Live in Upland and ride south in Glamis, Ocotillo, North Shore and Dumont a bit.
Been to Pismo once......we talked about going in August but I don't think it's going to happen. I'm not real big on the salt air on my motorhome, trailer, quad, rails......too much stuff to protect.

Ocotillo is actually not real big on my list mostly due to the amount of people and the dust out there. It's a big area with "destinations" to ride to, big jumps, one lame sand hill, just not my favorite. There are those in our group that like that area alot though and I have a buddy that always goes there with his group.
There is an area on the other side (east side) of the Salton Sea called North Shore that is similar and has 1/10th the amount of people, almost no dust, and you can pretty much do whatever you want. It's also a pretty decent are to hunt quail and dove in season so we can get in a combo trip here and there. That's my choice for non-dune riding but we are not all in agreement on that one.

You need to go to Glamis.....it would be 6 hours from Fillmore. Well worth the drive!

I can guarantee that Glamis won't be the slightest bit crowded until at least October. Just hotter then hell. We camp pretty far out and avoid the crowds.
Our first trip (Glamis) of the season will hopefully be the weekend before halloween but possibly not till Thanksgiving.
There really aren't any other dunes (that you can ride) that compare within at least 1000 miles of here.

haha i agree with ocotillo, i ride ocotillo (a tiny bit) super stition mtn and glamis. super stition mtn is like a mix of both ocotillo wells and glamis its my favorite, (only for the reason glamis gets a little to crazy, to many idiots trying to be a bad ass while drunk)

Default So Cal Riding

All,

Stoddard Wells is pretty decent. During summer months we only ride from 7am to 1 or 2pm before our brains catch on fire. At the end of the day, we usually take a ride to the Slash-X Ranch for grub before calling it quits. It makes for a great day and still get home in time to work on the honey-do list. I've been looking for a few other riders so if anyone is interested, let me know.
Thx.

We were riding up there 30 years ago.......back when you could camp at the base of Bell Mountain. Slash X was there back then as well. We go there every once in a while still but the last couple years we've been going to Johnson Valley when we do the High Desert. Couple good sand hills at Johnson Valley as well. Just no Slash X
