Default wont stay running?!

Well hopefully if the rain holds off tomorrow ill finally get to get the Z out of the garage and put some hours on it! But it doesnt seem to wanna stay running when you get on it. I just put an exhaust on it and rejetted it and it has ran fine till now. Any ideas? on the plus side i did get my new paddle tires put on it to see how it does in the sand! check it out!

Jetting is probably off. What carb are you running and whats your main jet at?

Stock Carb and to be honest i cant remember. what ever came with the exhaust. It was earlier this year that i put it on but i took the carb to my buddy to jet it cuz that is the one thing i will not work on. Anytime i have ever tried to do a carburator it never runs right after i touch it. I will say i have probably put 15 hours on it since the exhaust and this is the first time ive had problems. it will idle and if you just slowly get on it it seems to be ok, but if i try to just dump it and take off it dies. It just started tonight.

Sounds like the carb might need to be cleaned. Probably got some dirt or crud in there

Your idle might be down a little, try turn it up a small bit and see does that solve it.

Yes i learned a long time ago that carburetor came from the french word meaning dont WooterWooterWooterWooter with! haha but if its electrical i can have that figured out in about 15 mins. im good with that stuff. i once bought a 300 magnum polaris off my buddy for 100 dollars cuz nothing electrical would work so he thought it didnt run. i had that thing rewired and running in an hour and half!!Lol he was pissed and i sold it for 1500! haha

are you running it with the petcock on prime or on? I had this problem once before. My guess is either the petcock or the jetting. When I put an exhaust and intake on my z it would idle but as soon as you got on it it would die. First try the petcock if you haven't already

its on ON. I did check that out. i may drain the fuel out and buy some fresh hi grade fuel and see if that works. Can you run like an aviation fuel in them or anything?

You could but there is no point running such octane level with stock compression.

First off the stock carbs are so simple, dont be scared. I def think its jetting or crud in the carb. Take your time with it, make sure your air filter is clean and no restictions. Check your plug. Look for simple over looked stuff, it just started it didnt progressivly get to this point. I was working on a warrior this week and it was doing the same thing pulled the lid and it ran great.
