When I got my Z this spring it had a lower end knock to it. I rode it for about 6 months before it went. The Rod siezed to the crank. I was luck when it went. It was just idleing when it froze. Didn't do any other damage. Now it's getting a complete overhaul. +4 crank, BBk, cams, carb, valves, springs, dyna, full ex. on and on and on. I can't wait to feel the differance.

The bearings will get so bad that it will seize in place then you need to split the cases and put a new crank in but it's inevitably now at this point it's just a matter of time, personally I would make sure it's that then just fix it before yu get more glitter everywhere.

I took off the stator cover and found the flywheel bolts still in tact

I wouldn't ride it until you tear it down and check everything out. This summer I had to rebuild mine. The plating started coming off the cylinder, did damage to the oil pump, which is what I believe took out the crank. If the rod or crank bearings are bad, I would check the oil pump out before puting back together. Good luck, hopefully it is just a smal fix. Mine got expensive.

Hey guys sorry for not replying sooner ive been real busy with worth and stuff. I changed the oil filter and found a LOT of metal shaving in it. I changed the oil and went riding this past Saturday half way threw the day the motor locked up. so i took her home and started tearing her down. so far ive found the cylinder wall scored bad and the piston has almost a half inch play side to side. i have not gotten into the bottom end yet to see if there is any damage there. As it looks right now im at least going to have to get a bbk. I was wondering who makes a good bbk and figure since im going to do that might as well build the rest of the engine and wondering what would be a good combination for a reliable build that i can run pump gas on. Thanks guys for your help so far i really appreciate it.

You sound just like me. No lie. Look at my old thread of my quad adventure, i had scoring on the cylinder walls and i thought, just like you, that i needed a BBK, turned out my crank bearings went bad.

prob rod/crank failure..... lock tite the flywheel bolts while your apart...those little things are the reason I have a+5mm stroker motor. 450cc.

how did your wrist pin look? start by checking you rod clearance at the large end at the crank..
