Hey guys ive just put my newly rebuild motor and finally got it the bike and got everything hooked up. I was eagerly waiting for the motor to fire up but when i hit the start button the starter spins but does not turn the motor so i took the side cover apart. The starter clutch turns freely clockwise and does not turn without turning motor counter clock wise. The starter is turning counter clock wise. What im trying to figure out is if the starter clutch is supposed to turn freely clock wise or counter clockwise? Ive been searching all over the forum with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you in advance.

There is and arrow on the flywheel that shows which way the wheel spins freely....you could have put the starter clutch on backwards, the flanged side (where it hooks) should have been toward the flywheel if not it would just spin freely and not start .
Also try to Put in gear and Rick back and forth with clutch out and then pull in and try to start. Maybe starter clutch is going Bad if not recently replaced
