Question Keeps blowing base gasket

Finally got around to fixing my 92 lt250r. I just rebuild the top end. Rode it for a 5or 6 hours after breaking it in and the base gasket blew. Put in a new one and a new head gasket and it blew a few hours later. They were both K&s brand gaskets. I have now read these are junk and to get the oem gasket or Tudors no-blow gasket.
Now i went to tear it down again because it is puking antifreeze out the radiator overflow, I figured another base gasket/head gasket. i tear it down and the base gasket is ok, head gasket looks ok.... but the Piston top by the exhaust port is melted? Any ideas what may have caused this? is there something else i should check?

are you sure the head bolts are torqued to the right specs?

yes, i torque everything with a torque wrench. And have the oem and clymer manuals for specs.
The base gasket is ok this time but the head gasket blew.

That'd be my guess too, especially since the piston is scored/melted. It's been too hot at some point. You should probably get the head and cylinder checked for warping, inspect the cooling system, and make sure you're not jetted lean or running a too hot plug. Also, what fuel/oil are you running?

Check your water pump. If it's not that the puking of the anti freeze is due to a bad head gasket and is filling the radiator with the compression of the motor. When you put it back together do a leak down test on it. You can also use Indian Head Sealer on your gaskets which you can purchase at NAPA for a couple bucks.

If you blow out the base gasket it will make it run very lean and thats why it destroyed the piston. Sounds like you have some uneven surface I am guessing the jug is the problem.
