Question New guy restoring a 87 LT250R ice bike

My uncles gave me a 87 LT that was an ice bike up in Michigan. I'm resto-modding it (all stock Zuke but in tribute colors to my dad) and want to learn some back story on it (of anyone can help with that please) and need to know where I can find some parts. As soon as I get pictures on to my computer I'll post them up here. There is a stamping beside my exhaust port that says TJ25 my uncle told me that that was probably who did the port work (and it's some EXTREME port work). Any leads on the back story of this jewel would be greatly appreciated. I have some videos of it on YouTube under my user name: cj15941 please and thank you for any and all help!!

Cant wait to see some pics, welcome to the site.Im not sure about that port job but some info on the bike is the from 85-86 is a non-power valve engine and they are built different from a 87-91. The 87 is heavier but only by a little bit because the frames and motor are built better. If I'm correct suzuki first introduced the 250 2 stroke into the racing world then honda came in and stole the show(making better bikes) but the lt 250r are a great bike in my opinion, I own an 85 that im in the process of rebuild(full custom lt250r) But if you need more info check out quadracerhq.com they have EXPERTS on all the info you might need. As far as parts go not many websites carry many parts and eBay has everything you would need and cheapcycleparts.com has OEM parts at a good price, Good Luck.

Thanks for the info but I've already done a good bit of research about the bike. I'm looking for it's RACE history lol. As for quadracerhq, I can never get them to email me my password an all and they never sent me my verification email.

I saw your thread and read through all of it and posted on it too. Your bike looks damn nice. I hope mine comes out as good.

^^ +1 except for diffrences/changes it goes 87 then 88-90 then lastly 91-92. I think you're right about the honda thing 2smoker. I am almost positive honda came out with their 2 stroke 250 quad in 86 and I know Suzuki came out with theirs in 85.
To start off with your build if you hurry you can get 50% off on front and rear steel braided brake lines at motosport.com ! It's in their black friday sale that is still going on. I ordered them for my 86 lt250r.

The 85 LT was the first 2-smoke race 4-wheeler (sport bike) that was released. I've read alot (about 15 hours worth of research) about the history of the 2-stroke wars. And as for QRHQ. I'm not worried about that. Those are mostly duners. I have a retired ice bike (again please go watch my videos on YouTube: just search cj15941). I do apreciate that y'all are taking time to post here and y'all are making me feel very welcom

Most of the 250 riders are either ice racers or trail riders. There is also a good amount of 500 riders that are trail riders/ice racers.
