Default Jacked my quad up

Hello everyone, I recently joined here because I picked up a 1986 LT250R from a guy that said it only had one season on the top end. Had the bike out at Buttercup during the holidays and it was running real good, beating my TRX250R and keeping up with my built DVX400. The motor stalled coming down a dune after a drag race and was restarted by popping the clutch. It turned off again and the motor was locked up. After it cooled down it unlocked but has no compression. I will tear it down this weekend and redo the top end. I am looking for suggestions on good power combinations. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

I still have a stock top end on mine but it has some insane port work. It would hold a 230 pound man hanging over the handle bars in a wheelie down a field in 5th gear. I say stay stock and just have it port and polished. Too bad you don't have the a 87+ for the power valve.

I don't want to have to use race gas, trying to stay with 91.

nah, race gas ftw.. better consistency, I'm going to race gas once my bike is running as it should be. or AV gas 110LL or something like that is pretty decent and usually about the price of regular gas or ethanol free gas... much better for the engine I think than the ethanol crap even on 91... ask around on the QRHQ site. all the zilla guys run race gas regardless of mods I believe, they claim it's much better for the motor or something. stock compression I think they run it even. hell, just advance the timing a little lol. I want to once I gettir running good at least gonna advance the plate and try it lol

haha, yea. that ethanol does wear on our motors bad. theres a gas station by me that sells ethanol free so i dont have to worry. only its like $3.35-3.40 a gallon :-/
