Angry 87 250 head coolant problem

I'm posting for a friend.

we are working on his 87 lt250r and having head problems. here's what we have figured out. hopefully u guys can help out...

he has an over sized piston in there so he knows he needs to have a 69mm.... now he's gone through a few of them... what we noticed tonight was that his head bolts, well nuts, are kind of lose.... he rides it for an hour or two and then stats losing a little power and starts smoking again. he also will see preasure and bubbles in the coolant. Now what we are thinking is that the head is just becoming lose after a while and allowing this to happen... Does that sound right? ?? when we first put it all together and test and ride it the thing has GREAT power and runs real good. but then the problem comes back... now should he be using lock tight on them? Lock washers? could the studs be stretched out from over tightening them???

and help would be great!!!

also, I found before but can't know find head gaskets for sale just as the single gasket. We have 3 full packs minus the head gasket lol so we really don't want to buy another full set. Anyone got a link to one thats a 69mm would be great!!!

Thanks for your time guys!

Make sure you re-torque your head bolts down to the proper torque specifications after every run u do following your gasket replacement, untill everything breaks in and gets seated u must re-torque, or your head bolts will back off loosening your head and allowing coolent to by pass into you cylinder potentially blowing you top end "which is what happened to me" so i learned from experience unfortunatly.

Also make sure you gasket is going on the proper way or u will build back pressure through your coolent system.

I'll mention that to him. remember off the top of your head what the torque spec for that head is?

I think its around 20-22 ft pds for the head bolts but i will double check my manual when I get home.
