Hey everyone!
Im new here...been lurking for a while doing research on the zilla.... this is my ? I have a built 2006 yfz 450 SE with ALOT of work done to it. I am interested in an LT500r that has been punched to a 550 and has had $5300 worth of parts (guy has receipts) that the fella has added in the past few months. He has just finished the quad (putting new chain on tonight- last new component he had fedexed to his house) and he is interested in trading for a 4-stroke. NOW....my question is - my quad is like new and his is too...he has totally redone the zilla....it has less than 7 hrs on it...mine has abt 20 since being punched to a 478.... Is this trade worth doing on my end? He is throwing in helmet and riding gear, full set of tires, another new exhaust (aftermarket) a new sprocket, renthal bars, among other parts... I know this is a die hard suzu site but I dont want to get into something to deep here. My quad is like new and an 06 so im a lil hesitant BUT I know how badazz these zillas are! ![]() His lt is an 87.... I hear the 87s can have head gasket n water pump probs but his has been alllllll redone very very recently..... Any imput info or tips I need to lookout for (other than checking the frame at the neck) that I should look out for or just your opinion on the trade itself?? I REALLY appreciate any comments I get from you awesome quad heads in advance!!!!!!!!! ![]() Sorry for the long winded post!!! ![]() THANKS AGIAN!!!! ![]() Josh |

I say keep the YFZ450, the four-stroke is better for trail riding. The four-stroke has a smooth power delivery with lots of low end torque as where the two-stroke is nothing on the bottom until the power band hits then its hang on for your life. I like my quads four-strokes and my dirt bikes two-strokes. Really it comes down to what you want since its your bike.

Also with the two-stroke you will be rebuilding a lot more then the four-stroke. My buddy rebuilds his zilla every 6 months, it is fast as hell.

My quad has a crap load and i mean crap load of upgrades including wet spray (just for show but its there...lol)...
I was hesitant to trade today when i talked to the guy- I will probibly end up just telling him that I slept on it and decided it was a no go. My best friend has a kfx 700 and he was adamant on me getting the zilla... he said the zilla was the only quad he could find that had toasted his ass on the trail.. (he hasn't even seen my quad yet Ive been getting it ready for his kawa for a surprise but ive told him abt it) |

ohh ok lol
Ive owned several Yamaha vehicles and I dig the quality of manufacture... never owned a Suzuki quad tho-had a 09 raven r6 but it just was not enough power for me... I would love to own a raven R1. Definitely will be my next streetbike! ![]() Im doing research on the ltr as we speak and it looks like a jam up ride!! |
