Whats up!! been like a year since i logged on... i use to have a 2003 white ltz 400.... did the yoshi rs3 slip on, jet kit, and removed lid/snorkel and ran a quad works filter..... I have now moved up into getting a bone stock cherry mint condition 2006 ltz 400! still has nipples on tires! got it for a great deal..... anyways im wanting to do a full system and do some simple bolt ons.... nothing internal until later.... what pipe and intake mods do yall suggest...... oh and btw.... this thing stock feels just as sSTRONG....if not STRONGER than my old modded 03!! the suspension and everything is awesome!


1.) best exhaust? HMF?
2.) Intake set up? pro-design?



Also are the 06 ltz 400's faster than the 03 and 04's normally? what did they change?

whats up dude ? I also have a 2006 z and I am running a white bros full exhaust with a K&N lid on, snorkal off. But the sad thing about it is white bros. went under. You can look in (frequently asked questions) forum and check it out. I know its 6 years old , but maybe it can point you in the right direction. Your just gonna have to search and find what your looking for since there have been so many pipes that came into play. Hope thi helps....

hey man nice to meet you. my first mods were a yoshi slip on and a uni air filter... they haven changed much from the 03-06 just maybe the looks and the frame. maybe the torque is a little better on the newer models but i dont think they changed much at all..except for the 09

If I'm not mistaken the 05's got a bigger carb on them along with different timing for a little more power and not to mention reservoir shocks up front for some better handling, other than that I'm not sure of much else

I have an 05 and the first thing i did was throw on a k&n filter and then added a full yoshi rs3, works great for the riding i do.

Get an outerwears lid filter element and make your own outerwears airbox lid ($20). Get a jet kit from Alba, with new pilot, main and needle ($25). Clamp on uni filter ($25) with MAS adapter flange from autoparts store ($8). Prices might be a bit off but thats pretty much what I did on my 06 to start.

for an intake setup i would use a velocity intake.. they do make a big differance. and also if you have the money get a full exhaust they are much better than a slipon. the full exhaust flows alot better.

my cousin has the 08 and it does have a bigger carb. its a 37mm. older ones have the 36mm. his is just as fast as mine stock and i have the full yoshi and no lid and jets. no matter which of it rides his or mine his always wins by a hair

well that is because a pipe doesnt add any top speed, it just helps you get up to speed a lot faster, you have a do gear changes for more top speed. thats why i put on a 15 tooth front sprocket to go along with my yoshi.

have you measured the carbs side by side, because apparently they are the same exact size the newer ones just have the tps added on.

and the reason a newer quad might be faster is supposedly they also put in new cams and exhaust, but also the 03 will be worn out, and the 06 will be fresh, so it might be a little faster unless it got rebuilt

Was thinking about slapping on a 13T Front, but got 18" rear holeshots was trying to do the math. What size rear wheels you got, and whats your rear sprocket?
