Crank Shaft Thread Size?
Anyone know the thread size on the clutch side of the crank shaft? 1985 lt50. I have ordered the nut so I'll find out eventually but wanted to order a die to try and fix up the threads and have it ready to roll.
I opened this up to replace the crank seals because I couldn't get it running right and found some interesting things.
1.) Nut holding clutch assembly was jammed on the shaft due to the crank shaft thread damage. The large washer was banging around as it wasn't secure and is damaged
2.) The clutch assembly (since the nut was securing it at all) was secured by 1/2 of the shaft key jammed between the assembly and crank shaft. I find it hard to believe this happened mechanically, seems like someone did it on purpose.
3.) There was no sealant between the cases. Was evidence of some long ago but sealing surface of the cases were dry.
4.) Circlip from oil pump/transmission shaft found in bottom of the case. Various metal shavings from this and banged up clutch washers and shoes.
5.) Holes on clutch shoes have become oblong, guess from not being secure properly
Well was going to post pics of all this fun stuff but no permissions so maybe later. The threads are the hardest part, if I can fix those everything else should go together.
