Newbie JJAAK

Proud owner of a 2004 LT-Z400. Love this bike. Right size and enough power for me to rip through the trails around here. Am hoping to get so good info on things to look out for and problem solving when it comes to mechanical issues and such.

Crank case question

Will a 2004 LTZ 400 top end fit on a 2006 bottom crank case?

Top end should be the same. The only major difference in the engine that I can think of is the clutch. 05 and up had an extra set of plates, so a bigger basket, etc.

Thanks for the info. A few weeks ago my chain popped off and one bolt that holds the guard broke and ended up cracking my casing pretty bad. I threw on some JB weld and it looks like it’s still leaking from inside the top threadwell for the chain guard. I am not sure if it could be welded so I am looking into getting a replacement crankcase.

Another question...will the casings of my 2004 LT-Z400 match up to a 2005 crankcase? I am looking at buying a 2005 crankcase but it doesn’t come with the starter cover or clutch casing.
