New Member New Quad / need advice

I just got back in the game from over 8 years and got the itch for a quad so I bought a used 2012 ltz400, has an fmf tuner, intake and exhaust, Idk how to work the tuner, what are the best upgrades and mods I can do to make this thing nice and run well!? Intro to ltz400

Quad should run good with just those basic mods.

Now if you want to talk about spending money. Get shocks. seat, bars, pegs, tires, rims, axles, aarms, and more

Hell..... Yes.... What did you do first? It has rental bars and some kind of weird design with the shift lights assembly because the old cluster wouldn't fit?? nerf bars, although they're ugly fluorescent green 😔 I don't know what else... Some fmf tuner lol exhaust, and definitely need tires and new plastics cuz im picky and wanna buy stuff. What does everybody run? I've only ever seen a few different styles of tread.

What did you do first Tyler?

For exhaust, is it a full system or slip-on? Also what do you care about most comfort, power, or money? Pick one.

Definitely needs plastic and graphics and wheels and tires, pretty clean tho, haven't even pressured washed it yet, no leaks, e-brake delete, 2 grand with title. Good buy? Any other air intake ideas?

Looks well loved to be sure! The 'choke' is a high idle mechanism to help warm up the engine.

Also I just noticed, the tire sizes, what's everybody running and what pressures? This quad has the wrong rear tire size, unless it's just an upgrade?

Looks like a slip-on exhaust. I ran factory-sized tires, but some run what you have. Depends on the gearing and what type of riding youíre doing. Not a bad deal for 2 grand!

Well I'm going to buy new wheels and tires for it, I'd like some suggestions. Should I stick with the tire size that it has now or go stock? Just general field riding, snow storms, some hills and such nothing crazy. Also, about to rip my freaking hair out trying to find things for this 4 wheeler. I thought these were super popular and desireble? I've checked multiple websites and customer service departments and can't find any information past 2008. This has an fmf tuner and according to the internet, it doesn't even fit, but it's there lol. I'm interested in "auto tune" does anybody have it? This just has an open air box and a slip on I think. Do I even need it? I hate buying used stuff lol 😂

No need to get new tires unless theyíre worn out. Fronts are stock, rear is stock except 1 size wider, so itíll save your wheels from getting dinged up as easily. Iíd just run it til you canít.

Same with the tuner. If itís running ok, why throw money at it?
