Question 2009 Carrier same as 04-08's????

I'll appreciate If anybody can clarify this for me:

I'm rebuilding the rear end of my 2003 z: Bought a new +4 tusk axle, a used 2006 swinger and now I need the correspondent carrier. But lately in ebay I can see many cheap 2009 carriers and I wonder if they will work for my axle and swinger...

I know rear axle in the 09 z is different, so don't know on bearings sizes and carrier bolts pattern&sizes.

Thanks in advance!

How exactly is the 09 axle different from the previous years? Is it length or something else?

My guess would be the difference is in overall lengths and the bearing carriers are the same, but I really don't know.

Have you tried cross-referencing the part # of the bearing carriers? You should be able to do that on motosport.com and I believe bikebandit.com.

Tusk axles will work in both 09 or 03-08 carriers, they have wider space for both 2 or 3 bearings

09 carrier PT# 64715-33H00
08 carrier PT# 64715-07G20
It says the 08 will fit 05-08
The 09 will fit 09-12

Part number research answers alot of questions.

Woodsrider: Well the axle in z 2009 has different taper.Don't know about the in-carrier OD, which is my main concern but glock is assuring they are the same.... I got lost on the 3" bearings carrier....though

I expect bolts pattern to be the same if swingarms are the same.....

SpasticLTR: You got it!!, will have to wait for a 2004-2008 cheaper carrier!!

Thanks a lot!! all

03-08 carriers have only room for 2 bearings, one for each side
09 -up carriers have room in one side for 2 bearings and the other side have room for 1 bearing

tusk axles has the bigger taper you talk, so they can be installed in both carriers.

Mmm, I really like that of double bearings on the chain side!!

so Tusk axle can mount on both carriers, but, 2009 carrier can mount in a 2006 swinger?? that's all I need to know for now...

ah ooppss.... you cannot use a 09 carrier in a 06 swinger, unless you also get the 09 plate for the chain adjustment as 06 has 2 bolts and 09 only has 1 bolt.

2006 has one bolt as well.... and I have that plate as well. It is the 2003s that use 2 bolts for chain adjustment.

yeah 04 started the 1 bolt adjuster. my 04 has the single bolt adjuster. 03 was the only year with the 2 bolts. i guess people were complaining and they decided to change it up

**EDIT** i just googled both the 04 and 09 swinger and they both look identical, i say go for it....
