04 Z400 CLUTCH Slip- new cables new clutch, WTF??

04' Z400, Clutch engages at the very last 1/8" of the lever. Replaced the cable and re adjusted thinking stretched cable, no change,
Replaced the clutch set and springs, no change. I can't find anything from google searches, You tube, and I found this site. Can anyone throw there 2 cents in??

Thanks- Justin

clutch engages...........or disengages? Meaning, you let the lever almost all the way out before the quad will move?

I agree. If the clutch cable is adjusted all the way in and it still barely disengages it, jump a tooth on that lever arm to get more throw out of it.

Yes, end of releasing the lever it engages.
There is no lip on the basket, no wear, brand new EBC clutch and springs. Thin band then alternating 7 plates, 7 bands. Adjusted the throw lever on the case to right when it starts to release the clutch.

Adjustment releases in the right spot, but the engagement is late.
