I'd jbweld that crack and helicoil after

As for cam, was this supposed to be at tdc, if so, yes you did it wrong :-(

this is taking it apart and im completely ignorant when it comes to engines but im watching vids as a refrence for checking valves and my cam chain

check the valves for cupping/valve lash check the cam chain i heard ticking before it died and i found metal flakes in the oil filter and check the crank bearing

Nick, a manual would be a great investment for this job. If no one is on here to give you an answer to any disassembly/assembly questions, it will be in the manual.

Here for valve lash

if you look on the side of the cams where you see the numbers, the 3 should be on top on the inktake valve and the 2 on exhaust

After that, cam chain you can just remove then tensionner and see how many 'clicks' left on it
make sur to remove the 12 or 10 mm bolt befor the 2 allens

as for connecting rod, you have to remove the cams, all bolts(4 inside+2 on the side) exhaust, intake thermostat
then the 2 bolt for the cylinder

remove cylinder

then you will have the piston and connecting rod right there

Since that's such a small part I'd run it down to a local welding shop and give them a few bucks to throw a tack weld on it

Im kinda astounded that split instead of stripping out

I don't think I've ever seen one do that

oh and since it's look like first time you play in your engine here is a tip!
go get some ziplock bags and put like head bolt together in one and write what's in the bag!
