Very proud of my 434 kfx racing today

We were doing some straight line drags about 1/4 mile yesterday and I got to go up against a yamaha raptor with a 686 big bore and stroker crank with cams and pretty much everything. He even has to run race gas because of his compression. I got him every time by 3-4 lengths in the 1/4 mile. I figured I would get my butt handed to me with his mods but it didn't turn out that way. My mods are a 434 kit and major head porting with old style hotcams with 12.2 to 1 compression and full exhaust with an FCR 40 carb, My other buddy was running a honda 450r and was also beating the built raptor but not as bad as I was. I guess I just wanted to say how impressed I am with these little 400 zuki engines. Thinking my next mod will be a stroker crank. Not sure what crank but I will have to do some research on that later.

MODS KFX 400

custom head pipe from kfx guy
Dynatek programmable ignition
FCR 43 carb with quickshot 3

yea I was pretty happy. I was not expecting to beat him at all cuz I know everything he has done to that raptor. He said he wasn't sure what size it is since he as the stroker crank but the big bore is something like a 686. As far as porting you head you should do it. I pretty much did all my mods one at a time and when I ported the head it was a very big gain in the mid to upper rpm power. Oh and I noticed after I lowered my machine down it really helped the start, before the front end was in the sky, haha. Had a little traction issue but still walked the raptor. The best part of it was that he always told me he couldn't really ride it because it was too modded and it's only place was in the dunes. we ran about 6 times or so and it was about the same results. my buddys honda 450 was walking him to but he is modded some as well. I guess I was expecting more from a big bore stroker rappy. I guess I will see how I do in the atv drags next week at the county fair. There is a kid with a big bore 400ex that wants a piece of me so I guess I will see how it goes.
My nephew is gunna run my 01 warrior in the 350 class so I hope he will do good. I have it modded pretty good as well with a port job and cam and high comp piston with a 37mm FCR

Raptor were orginally a 660. Than they came out with the 700 which is actually a 686. With the 660s a popular big bore kit was the 686 made by various companies

^^^ that is correct. If u were racing a 660 raptor, that is not a difficult task to walk on one with a z cuz they are under powered, heavy machines..

I had a 660 and it was gutless in stock form. 700s are a totaly different machine. I only rode a 700 one time for a short distance and i was impressed compared to the 660

Garage
You did fine .
I remember spankin' a tricked out 660 on comp hill in Dumont. Still felt good even though they are probably the slowest production quad relative to engine size out there.

as bad as my lungs are I would most likely get beat by an old lady in a foot race. Too much smoking in the past years.

oh and I raced my other friends raptor today and got my butt slaughtered! Of course I'm gunna guess pretty much nobody on here could beat him. It's a tad bit modified. Used to be a 700 raptor but has had a slight transformation. Yamaha fuel injected R1 engine settin in it, haha. Pretty insane
