Exclamation i guess i was wrong about the 400

so i have a friend that just moved here he has a 2007 kfx 450r he has a 100 pd advantage on me, i dragged him over 10 times and everytime hed beat me by 1-2 quad lengths, so then i called my other friend to come down to the gravel pit. he weights the same as the other kid so now its fair, i go to the other side of the pit and tell them to go and every time they raced my bike one by a little to 1 quad length. his kfx only has a full pro circuit t4 and a 13t and airbox lid off. so then we took this race to pavement. he would take off faster in first but i would pull away in 2 then we would stay even by the time we get to 5th im about 1 quad length infront of him. and he had that thing full throttle like me. so for people who say a 400 cant beat a 450 you might be wrong. also we both had stock front tires and he had maxxis on the back and i had my sti tech 4 on the back. i guess this thread can go under tuning because if you tune your bike like mine youll win..

First off, kfx 450 didn't come out till 08. Secondly, there's no way u beat that bike. My buddy had one that was stock and it whipped on mine when I had just a slip on with a jet kit.. keep dreaming...

Stock frame... Stock wiring harness... Stock rear brake caliper and master cylinder.. that's about it for stock stuff left on bike.. $...$...$...

10 lbs = 1 hp.....or at least that's the excuse my buddy used when I'd beat him.

tbone i had a full exhaust, fuel controller and a nice intake system. you just said u had a slip on, mine is efi witch has more power then carbs, my bike is making around 40 hp just a little less then a stock kfx, he rode mine and was impressed i rode his and it felt like mine just with a little more get up and go but it felt alot heavier, i had way more top speed also, he had a 13-38 i have a 14-40 you may not wanna believe it but if i could record it and show you i would.

Cool

A stock 450 wouldn't be hard to beat if you had the 3 mods done to your bike (full pipe/jetted/intake). But if a 450 also has those mods than its highly unlikely you will beat it. Alot of things like rider error, weight, experience, setup, and cc's will play a big part in drag races. So I believe you beat that 450. The 400 with the 3 mods will break the 34-35 HP mark, but it would take at least cams and a BBK to break the 40 mark I would think. So you breaking the 40 hp mark is hard to believe, unless the efi model 400 is way higher than 28-30 hp stock. Mind you that there is little info here on this site about the efi 400, so the more info you have on it please post. Here is a link to an old 400 pipe shootout with HP numbers.

2009 Suzuki QuadSport Z400 Project ATV - Motorcycle USA

"With the addition of the CT pipe and removal of the air box lid, we found the quad ran lean, so a Dynatek FI fuel management system was added, along with a Pro Design Pro-Flow foam filter. We dyno tested the Z400 and came up with 40.18 rear wheel ponies. This makes it comparable to the top two of the eight stock 450’s in terms of horsepower, and give us what we needed for a rideable trail machine."

my setup is so close to theirs, i have a full exhaust, i have a better intake than theirs, i have a fuel controller, exactly what they have and there getting 40hp

im thinking stock 2009+ are about 33-36 hp, and i think stock 08- are about 26-29 right?
also heres another link How much horsepower does a stock suzuki Z-400 have? - Ask.com

also if you guys didn't know the 2009+ changed the cams, changed the intake tract and a few other things that i don't remember but i read it in a couple articles.

heres some more things changed http://www.atv.com/manufacturers/suz...view-1004.html
