On Memorial Day weekend, we ran in an MX vs ATV Money race at Ukiah MX.
They announced during the pre-race practices that someone suggested doing a money race... so I went up and half kidding asked if ATVs were allowed to race too. No one really knew what to say
The dirt bike guys talked about it and everyone decided "sure why not". So Paul and I signed up. There were 6 of us total, 4 bikes and 2 ATVs.
Moto 1: on the holeshot, one bike beat me to turn 1 by a bike length or so and 2 others where about side by side with me. I came out of turn 1 side by side with one of the bikes, racing for 3rd, going over the 1st 2 tables next to him. I got by him and after a couple more turns passed the next bike too; moving into 2nd. I chased the leader for a lap or so and then passed him. He didn't back down, however, he was right on me the entire moto. Finish was ATV (me), bike #33, ATV(Paul)
Moto 2: again one bike beat us to the 1st turn... but this time as he slowed for the turn Paul and I slid around him and were off. I lead most the race, with Paul right on my tail, until the last lap when I over shot a table and Paul got around me. Finishing ATV (paul), ATV (me), bike #33.
So finial results Me, Paul, bike #33.
The bike guys were cool about it and it was a lot of fun.
