another one bites the dust..

Well me and a couple buddys got out this evening and had some fun. One has a kfx700 with a few boltons exhaust and filter, the other has a raptor 350 with cams, full exhaust, chip, intake, hotcams, full suspension, etc tons of stuff done, and well the ole z400 held her own...

The raptor diddent get even close, blew him away completely...

The kfx700 was a good run till 3rd then I began pulling away and never looked back..

Im pretty happy with ole girl!!! All that is done that i have confirmed is a bill balance slip on (stock header), k&n filter and more then likely a jet kit. Other then that its pretty much stock. I was told that it had cams and a 440 big bore, but the cams are stock, and im pretty sure its not a 440..

Is there any way of knowing if it is infact a 440?? The cylinder looks stock, but doesnt mean that the kit diddent come with a sleeve and required boring of the stock cylinder...

Just though I would share that with you guys.. So far im killed a kfx700, predator 500, raptor 350 with everything done, and was a pretty close race between me and a buddys z400, but we were in the sand and he had some knobby tires....

Thoughts???

well you'll have to pull the head and measure the bore to see if its a big bore. And by the way it sounds i'd bet you do have a big bore. seems a lil quick for the lack of mods and a stock bore.

I can beat a kfx700 bolt ons, raptor 700 stock, and blow away a 350 raptor with boltons. My friends have predator 500's I can beat the 04' but the 05' is a TroyLee edition and has a closer ratio transmission revs up quick like a 450, that one I can't beat, but I have both hotcams full pipe and procom rev box. But you might have a big bore, be interesting of wat u got in that motor.

Most of the aftermarket cams look like stock cams, because they use stock cams to make them... Just throwing that out there.

I beat a KFX 700 with my 440 without much trouble, as well as a stock raptor 700, a few preddy 500's raptor 660's and 450's with light mods also.

I haven't had time to do much with the 490 yet, but it is certainly faster than the 440 was, and it has beaten a heavily modded LTR (still 450cc's) and a Polaris 525 with pipe and intake kit. It also got the hole shot against a whole pile of 450's with unknown mods in a MX race this spring... And I'm fat

I have both the KFX 700,and a Z400. The 700 with bolt ons still isn't that fast. It has a boat load of low end grunt, but top end is lacking, and the Z400 will take it everytime. With some clutch work the Z400 would never even come close, but being its the wifes ride (automatic), the clutch is staying stock for now.

^^^^ thanks for the info guys.. The more I learn and dig into these quads, the more impressed I am with them. I am glad I went with one, as they seem to be one of the best all around quads out there.. Mods are mostly affordable, they are very easy to work on and maintain, they seem to be almost bullet proof, their flexibity is just simply amazing!! I think that Suzuki hit the nail on the head with these quads!!

Also you have to take in that the 700 has the auto tranny, the shaft drive, also the motor is way bigger which makes it alot heavier and thats the major advatage the z has on the 700. Not dissing on the kfx tho, don't get me wrong they are great bikes
