I have a 2004 Arctic Cat DVX 400 I bought it for $600. The previous owner said he drove it to the end of his driveway then it bogged out and wouldn't start. It won't pop or anything but once in a while, it will backfire. It won't start with gas in the cylinder either. I will check compression and try a new spark plug tonight. It has spark but I will have to check again to see if it has blue spark.

It had orange spark, then I trimmed the spark plug wire and got blue spark. The weird thing is the plastic on the spark plug cap will spark where ever it is closest to something to ground out on. I'm not sure what to try next.

I would put a fresh plug in it, and replace the spark plug cap.( Cant remember if its one piece with the coil or not), and try it . Leave the plug out for a while to dry the cylinder out as well.

If after the above steps I would check timing and check to see if the Timing key sheared, This sounds like it could have happened here.

Need to verify compression, valve clearance, and timing if a new coil doesn’t work.

I took it to a friend and he said the rings are stuck to the Piston. It should be running soon!!!

Freed the rings and checked the ring gap. All is good and it runs good now!!!
